Food and Nutrition Information Center: Dietary Guidelines for Americans This site is a must. An excellent source of general nutrition guidelines, databases, vitamin and supplement information.
HealthFinder A general health site with links for prevention, alternative medicine, medical dictionaries and encyclopedias. One wonderful part of this site teaches kids healthy habits on their level. Also, information about physicians and dentists.
Health.gov A portal to many health related web sites supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other Federal departments and agencies.
Nutrition.gov The main government site for nutritional information, including relationships and fact sheets about diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
USDA: Dietary Supplements Helpful information and warnings about dietary supplements. A must read for anyone taking over the counter herb preparations, minerals, vitamins, or other supplements.
The Surgeon General's call to action The Surgeon General's statement regarding obesity, as well as some straight forward resource information.
Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition The name says it all. This site is maintained by the Food and Drug Administration.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The main government agency involved with infectious diseases, epidemiology, and toxic exposures. A good source of information for travelers as well.
Private Organizations Sites that are supported by private corporations or organizations. Information may be helpful, but there also may be commercial bias.
